What will the Physioyoga training cover? 

Yoga postures for common musculoskeletal conditions 

Experiential gentle and therapeutic physioyoga practical classes and workshops based on classical Hatha Yoga postures and gentle flows.  

Explore posture variations and the use of yoga props for back pain, arthritis, neck, shoulder and thoracic and balance at a gentle and restorative level.

Become confident to incorporate yoga in your scope of practice for individuals and groups with clinical reasoning and case studies .

Learn about yoga from the perspective of functional anatomy and myofascial meridians.

Restorative Yoga Nidra: Relaxation 

Theory and daily restorative yoga nidra practice. This practice involves finding a comfortable position, usually lying down, and doing a guided deep progressive relaxation with mindfulness. An evidence based approach with application for pain, stress and anxiety by calming and renewing the nervous system. Gain the skills to confidently teach others.

Mindfulness, meditation techniques and breathing exercises.

Each day will start with a group yoga class including short meditations and mindfulness techniques which we practice throughout the program.

Breathing is incorporated with movements and as stand alone practices. We learn breathing techniques to calm and to invigorate.

This course draws on gems of wisdom from many yoga traditions, particularly Hatha and Raja yoga.

Introduction to Yoga for mental health;

We look at yoga to assist clients with stress, anxiety, depression and trauma aware practice. 

The training program includes practical classes, lectures, mirco skills and group work plus some pre tasks sent out approx 6 weeks prior.

Comprehensive manual including base postures, flows and review of the evidence base.

Rebecca Fagan; With 25 years Physiotherapy experience,  predominantly musculoskeletal private practice integrating yoga for clients from ages 9 to 90 in groups and individually. Rebecca incorporates yoga, breathing (pranayama) and meditation techniques.

Yoga Australia Senior teacher. 

Yoga Alliance International recognition ERTY 500 PLUS and RYT-YIN 50.

Graduate Certificate Yoga Therapy.

Rebecca has facilitated Retreats for clients in Bali since 2013 and Therapeutic Yoga training in Bali since 2018.

Rebecca initially trained in Classical Hatha yoga, Satyananda yoga and Yin Yoga plus experience in styles such as Iyenga and Raja yoga. Rebecca has also spent many years practising meditation from many different traditions over the past 30 years. This has included mindfulness, Christian and Buddhist, Siddha yoga, Raja Yoga, prana Vidya,  kriya, Yoga Nidra. 

Group facilitation is informed by Gestalt therapy and group work training.

Rebecca is inspired by the rich benefits of yoga in her own and her client’s lives and is passionate about teaching these skills and knowledge. 

Lauren Cox is a senior physiotherapist at the Queensland Children’s Hospital (QCH) in Brisbane.

She has experience across multiple areas including intensive care, neurosciences, respiratory, orthopaedics, rheumatology, burns, surgical, oncology and palliative care.

With a passion for education, Lauren has been involved in education delivery to physiotherapists locally and internationally. 

Lauren completed the PhysioYoga course in 2018 and has used these skills in her clinical practice and further in her life coaching career. 

Lauren will share her use of Physioyoga in paediatrics to help you explore ways you can integrate therapeutic yoga in your practice.
